Family Photos at Saltair in Utah

Would you wake up at 4 in the morning to get photos like this?

I genuinely am not a morning person unless 1. I have a photoshoot at sunrise or 2. I’m on vacation somewhere I’m really excited about or 3. if I have enough coffee

I had no trouble getting up for these guys and I’m so glad we chose sunrise. I am IN.LOVE. with every single photo from this shoot. Even the sad ones.

Little guy H is usually a happy morning person and is the reason this client scheduled this shoot so early, and of course he was NOT having it. I tried every trick in the book. Then mom tried every trick in the book. We played games, we made fools of ourselves, we sang songs, we let him run around, we gave him snacks. Sometimes toddlers run the show. But honestly, getting the full spectrum of emotions your kids have isn’t a bad thing. They won’t be like this forever, and you’ll love looking back on the little moments like this.

What do we think? Would you shoot at sunrise?

I encourage all of you to try waking up at sunrise, it’s such a magical time.

xx

Photographers- do you have any questions on how to photograph at sunrise? Let me know. It’s a gorgeous time, but like sunset, you have perfect light for a limited time, and then once the sun rises, you’ll have extremely bright harsh light that you’ll need to manipulate.
